The Mermaids are coming...
As a child, I was drawn to the sense of freedom I felt underwater—the way sounds softened, movement slowed, and the outside world seemed to fall away. Mermaids embodied that feeling of quiet abandon and limitless imagination, floating and dancing unbound by gravity and societal pressures. In this new series, I return to that early sense of wonder, reinterpreting it through the lens of adulthood, motherhood, and creative practice.
Whenever I went to the beach, I made it a point to dive underwater, lay down on the ocean floor, and see the light dancing over the water’s surface. The world felt so quiet and peaceful, like I could do anything. It was one of the only places where my mind could fully settle and allow my imagination to fully take hold. These paintings are my way of revisiting that space—and exploring what it means to find that kind of peaceful sense of wonder again as an adult.

I’m drawn to expressive figures and symbolic objects that speak to worth, resilience, and the courage to live authentically, oftentimes featuring a small affirmation located inside the painting.
These elements reflect my belief that our intuition is a guiding force, quietly urging us toward our inner light, even when the path feels messy or uncertain.
