THE FLORAL CROWN COLLECTION

Welcome home to yourself

Inspired by my love of autumn colors

More often than not, I second guess myself.

Every time I have to make a major decision in my life, I feel like I need to consider every option, see ALL the pros and cons, figure out who it would affect, who would be disappointed, and who would be happy.

I put myself last and plan my life around others to the point where I no longer know what I want. I know it’s unhealthy, unsustainable, and I’m actively working towards coming back to myself and considering my needs first.

Undoing years of programming has brought up lots of feelings like guilt, sadness, and anger. Guilt that I am choosing what I want to do. Sadness that I had to live like this for such a long time. And anger that I have had to live with all this internal suffering for decades.

Painting this collection is the quiet act of rebellion—bucking expectation, pushing boundaries, and asking “what if” not out of anxiety but out of genuine curiosity.

It’s while I paint that suddenly, my wants, my opinions, my intuition are always right. I don’t question things or overanalyze to the smallest details. My mind simply zigs and my brush zags. In many ways, I’m constantly improvising, dancing with my muse, finally welcoming her in with open arms.

I’m free. I’m me, in all my paint-stained glory. This is my truth of my authentic self.

Returning home with a little help from nature

I believe that everyone’s path towards joy and fulfillment is different and that’s why trusting our own unique spiritual compass—our intuition—is essential in our quest for joy.

And one of the best places I find intuition is nature. I believe nature is THE place to ground ourselves, a reminder that our world is a mixture of complex and simple, colorful and subdued, deeply majestic and beautifully understated.

I felt drawn to the deep hues of the fall in New England (especially sunflowers!) and decided to use those colors and integrate them into a collection dedicated to trusting our intuition and like a sunflower, turning towards our own inner light.

Created with Intention

In our daily lives, we’re taught to ignore our intuition to keep the peace. But with these paintings where I feature figures wearing sunflower crowns- I’m intentionally letting my inner voice lead, even when it feels messy or risky.

Each painting was built through layers of expressive mark-making and oil paint to create surfaces that shift with light and movement.

This collection grew from a quiet reflection

Each figure is surrounded by warm sun-kissed browns, glowing reds, and floral yellows—like a soft halo of light—with playful expressive touches of blue woven throughout. these paintings are reminders that even when life feels cold or uncertain, there is still something inside us that wants to reach toward warmth and bloom.

For those of us on the journey back to ourselves, our original, authentic self knows the way, like a sunflower always yearning, turning towards the sun. When you choose your gut, you are choosing to step out of the current of external demand and back onto your own shore.
